Interactive Teaching Methods to Promote Student Engagement in the Mathematics Classroom
In 2016 I decided to pivot my career in environmental engineering, to instead focus on education. Since then I have been teaching at private schools as a math, science, and foreign language teacher, where I have been responsible for creating engaging and interactive curriculum for both middle school and high school students. I look forward to continuing my work in education and inspiring students to reach their full potential in life.
When not studying or working, I enjoy visiting new places and learning about different cultures, reading, and watching uplifting stories – especially those based on real-life events. I also love dancing, and cooking authentic Colombian food. Being able to share it with family and friends, and help them learn more about my culture is very special to me.
First and foremost, thanks to God for everything I have become and learned, I owe it to Him.
The completion of this capstone project could not have been accomplished without the continuous help and support of my husband. Thank you for always believing in me and encouraging me never to give up.
Special thanks to my son, for being patient and understanding, to my parents, and my siblings, who found a way to be present and be supportive despite the distance. Thank you to my dear friend, Ali, for being a constant source of support and inspiration. I also appreciate all of the thoughtful feedback, replies, and input my fellow classmates have provided throughout the Capstone development process.
Lastly, I would like to thank my professor and thesis director, Dr. Quezada, for his guidance and very constructive feedback throughout this process.
